The Senior Manager of Education and Public Programs manages the development and implementation of the Bell Museum’s informal science education initiatives, serving an intergenerational audience and supporting lifelong learning. Oversight includes, but is not limited to: K-12 education including field trips and teacher professional development, youth and family programs including youth camps and afterschool programs, and public science events like festivals and weekend events spotlighting University scientists.
This position reports to the Director of Public Engagement and Science Learning, and will provide strategic and operational leadership for a suite of Bell educational programs serving diverse learners (preK – family) and varying in size and scope. These programs all leverage the resources of the Bell, the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences, and the larger University of Minnesota in efforts to improve public understanding of science and the value of science for improving people’s lives.
The efforts of this position will focus on activities taking place at the Bell Museum facility, with potential to expand externally as statewide outreach efforts grow and develop. This individual is a dynamic and experienced program manager with a passion for science and informal education and demonstrated success in working collaboratively to engage the public with current science through programs serving diverse audiences.
