KidZibits is seeking a collaborative and self-motivated Exhibit Designer with a passion to create fun and impactful experiences for all people, especially children. They will collaborate with Designers, Developers, Project Managers, Project Leads, Fabricators, and Clients to produce design drawings, CAD models, sketches, and other design and construction documents to meet the needs of each unique project. Candidates for this position should have strong organizational and communication skills with a high attention to detail while bringing experience, creativity, agility, creative problem solving, and ingenuity to each project and collaboration.

Job Overview:
- Brainstorm and design innovative, safe, and engaging learning environments through a collaborative process with a multi-talented team including exhibit developers and graphic designers.
- Develop designs to varying degrees of detail depending on project needs and design phase requirements.
- Review, understand, and utilize napkin sketches, renderings, and plans to create scaled construction drawings and CNC cut files.
- Research and explore design ideas, materials, and technologies for use in exhibit projects.
- Communicate ideas, design intent, and technical details clearly.
- Assist with prototyping, testing, and evaluation.
- Participate in design kick-offs, brainstorming sessions, client check-ins, and a variety of other in-person and digital meetings. Travel within the US as required.
- Establish and maintain positive, team-focused working relationships with all personnel.
- Learn, understand, and maintain KidZibits established best practices, processes, and standards.
- Exercise safe shop practices, adhering to and enforcing all established safety procedures.
- Keep a clean work environment, and maintain tools and equipment as needed.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in museum exhibit design, ideally in exhibitions, theater, or themed entertainment.
- Ability to communicate through a wide range of visualization skills, from loose concept work to highly detailed design drawings.
- Fluency in 2D and 3D design programs such as Autocad, Rhino, Solidworks , Inventor, Fusion 360, or comparable.
- Understand and respect clients’ missions and goals, translating them into high-quality experiences.
- Knowledge and skills in fabrication techniques including, but not limited to, welding, carpentry, cabinetry, machining, fiberglass, sculpting, finishing, scenic paint, microcontroller electronics, etc.
- Proficiency using computers and office software including Google apps, Slack, Dropbox, and email.
- Ability to see the big picture and coordinate multiple project needs at one time.
- Self-motivated. Able to work independently and help others do so while keeping projects on track.
- Innovative and enjoys a changing work environment.
- Excellent communicator, patient, and diplomatic.
- Possess mental agility and a positive attitude (the “creative whiz kid” inside).
