    a resource to the museum industry, Flying Fish offers a portfolio of touring exhibitions in addition to its services in

    design, fabrication, freight, tour operations, and sales representation. At Flying Fish, our clients rely on us to offer

    them quality products and services. Due to demand and the company’s exponential growth, we’re expanding upon

    our services in fabrication and are thus seeking to fill a number of positions with experienced talent.


    About the Position

    We are looking for an experienced Fabrication Manager. At the start, this individual will manage the daily operations

    and oversight of all projects including project budgets, schedules and required equipment and personnel. Initially

    overseeing 1-3 fabricators, the Fabrication Manager should be well-versed in OSHA processes/procedures and have

    a solid foundation in supervision and project management. This position is very hands-on. The Fabrication Manager

    will be expected to work on all of the tools and equipment, and should subsequently be able to train all staff.


    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time, permanent position.

    White Bear Lake, Minnesota


    Required Education and Experience

    • Minimum 5 years of related experience in similar field

    • Relevant post-secondary education preferred

    • Carpentry/Cabinet making experience

    • Previous experience with build, architectural and design drawings

    • Knowledge of vectorworks, sketchup or autoCAD

    • Excellent project and time management skills

    • Ability to problem solve and think on your feet

    • Organizational skills and process-oriented

    • Ability to work with various departments within the company in a constructive and professional manner


    Preferred Experience

    • Previous museum exhibit fabrication experience a plus

    • Familiarity with museum standards

    • Experience in metalworking

    • Experience in prototyping


    Position Duties

    MAIN DUTIES

    • Management of fabrication projects, personnel, budgets, and schedules

    • Direct vendors and fabricators in design and manufacturing

    • Bid and negotiate purchases and contracts for a variety of materials

    • Create work orders for shop fabrication

    • Report project status to project managers or Directors on an ongoing basis

    • Identify and develop potential suppliers and enhance relationships with existing suppliers

    • Provide expertise as an in-house resource for other departments
