JOB DUTIES
- · In collaboration with the Registration Department, physically handle works of art and manage movement of art in and out of storage areas.
- · Track and record art location changes in TMS (The Museum System)
- · Work with Registrars and Art Preparators in all aspects of collections care, including the housing of art objects.
- · Perform routine art inventories.
- · Perform routine housekeeping in art Storage areas as needed.
- · Assist museum staff, visiting scholars, classes and members of the public studying and researching works in the museum collection.
- · Other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- · BA/BS degree in art history, studio arts, anthropology, museum studies or equivalent training and experience.
- · At least six months of experience in art handling, collections management or other objects-related work.
- · Must be detail-oriented.
- · Familiarity with database management systems.
- · Familiarity with professional standards for handling and care of museum collections.
- · Ability to lift 40 pounds, climb ladders and rolling step ladders and stand for long periods of time.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- · Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- · Knowledge of and/or demonstrated interest in collections preservation and collection care issues.
- · Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- · Familiarity with print and photography collections.
- · Experience with matting and framing.
- · Experience building boxes and mounts
- · Ability to operate equipment such as pallet jacks and lifts.
